Caught by the Fuzz

Wimped out on the WOC and went to see Hot Fuzz instead.

Good film, goes absolutely mental in the last half hour, turn all the way to 11, not scratch that, it goes up to about 37 with some serious John Woo style carnage. It walks a very fine line between actual action movie and piss take, and is equally utterly hilarious and very gory in places. What I really think what they wanted to does in this is film is have an excuse to do those pretend gun fights they had in Spaced, with real guns Timothy Dalton is a complete scene stealer. Super grass’s “Caught by the Fuzz” being played while the titles rolled was totally predictable though.

Definitely a guys film though, and even though I went in Helena mode, I was still had a blokes reaction to it, laughing at the gory bits and the references to other films. There where three girls in the same isle as me and there reactions where totally different, with lots of squeals.

Again, very little reaction to my presence en femme, even on a busy and boozy Saturday night in Islington, but then its generally a fairly tolerant neighborhood (and it was dark).

Spending the day

Had to marshal some thoughts about today and hence this outpouring.

Decided to spend the whole day as Helena, normally I’m just a Saturday night girl, I pop out occasionally, usually after dark, just a furtive visit to a local shop or a jig around my handbag at Trans-Mission.

But today, going went went tough and so the tough went shopping. Got up at 6 (actually my normal time) and got ready, weighed self, (11 stone nothing, yippee  ), took 2 and a bit hours to get ready (usually takes much longer) surfed a bit and drank a glass of something stronger and left the house.

Dress was down, my favourite girly jeans with sparkly bits, a cream polo neck, tan boots, belt and bag, long black coat and my new favourite baker boy cap. Walked through the park to the tube, found Victoria line was closed for planned engineering works, bugger. Walked to a bus stop and got the 56 to Walthamstow.

My destination was Doreens. I needed to buy some tranny specific bits, but also I went for a confidence boost. The women in that shop come across as a bit dotty, but I suspect the’re canny sales people and know how to butter up a customer. Got some pants and loads of compliments about my look, which was the desired effect :).

Boosted by this I wandered over to central Walthamstow and did the shopping centre and the market. Went into loads of shops, bought a belt in New Look, some eye shadow, nail varnish and some sweets in Super Drug, Some more eyeshadow and some makeup remover wipes in Boots. Then wandered up and down the market and the independent shops.

Saw a top I liked in an little fashion store’s window, but couldn’t find it in the shop, but curiously I saw a guy buying one of those tops, slim, shaven head, good skin, youngish, another Tranny pehaps?

Actually what I what went for was a particular jacket and top I saw in a different branch of New Look earlier in the week, but the Walthamstow branch didn’t stock them  So back to were I did see them, the branch in the Brunswick centre near Russell Square .

So a couple of tubes and a bus later (Engineering works again!) I’m there. They have the Jacket (Synthetic Black Leather Biker Jacket) but alas I’ve spent to much already and don’t have the cash (I never carry cards En Femme) and they don’t have the top (another cream polo neck of sorts, how many of these do I actually need?) in my size (all to big for a change)

Went to Waitrose and got sushi for lunch and ate it on a bench in the the centre, and got the bus home. Well near home, got off early and went to Starbucks, but no tables, so went to Maccy Dee’s next door and got a coffee and Triple choc muffin (reward for the day and the weight loss), ate in and sat and watched the world go by, ambled through the park home

Park Life

and here I am.

What has really prompted this out pouring was the reaction I got out and about on a busy Saturday morning and lunch time in London. Or to be more exact, the near total lack of reaction I got. I must of been clocked, I ain’t that good, I even had to speak and interact with people, but nobody made an issue of it, or even commented and I was totally left to my own devices. I got, as far as I could tell near total acceptance, nobody wanted to sit next to me on the bus though. Got “Miss” and “Madam” a couple of times, shop assistants where pleasant and a couple of car drivers stopped to let me cross the road. People where nice to a 6′ tranny in heels. The world isn’t so bad after all

Now whats left is what to do with the rest of the day, another glass of wine certainly, but I was planning to stay in and watch a DVD, but now, bristling with confidence, cinema perhaps (haven’t seen Hot Fuzz yet) or put on a spangly mini skirt and head down to the WOC armed with my best collection of admirer put downs? Who knows. But its been quite a day so far.
